The fungus causes Fusarium\nwilt, also known as Panama disease. Along Turkeys Mediterranean coast the Cavendish banana is a valuable\nagricultural crop. In 2018 banana plants in greenhouses showing severe wilt\nsymptoms and collapse were investigated. The fungi isolated from the banana\nplants were identified with molecular techniques and showed to be TR4.\nThis find marks a further\nexpand of TR4\u2019s dissemination into the Middle-East. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Production of the Cavendish\nbanana along the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey is around 369,000 tons, which\nmeets 67.7% of the domestic demand. In banana greenhouses in cities of Alanya,\nAnamur and Gazipasa, plants showing severe wilt symptoms and collapse were\ndetected in March 2018.
